Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season at a time when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. It began in 2012, just two years after we started Snack Pak 4 Kids.
Giving Tuesday unites diverse groups of individuals, communities and organizations around the world with one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving. Giving Tuesday brings together the collective power of a unique blend of partners – non-profits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals – to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness.
This year, Giving Tuesday is brought to you locally by The Amarillo Area Foundation, First United Bank, United Supermarkets, and a wide range of local non-profits committed to making the Texas Panhandle a thriving community for all our residents.
It’s amazing to see what we can achieve when we collaborate and work toward a common goal. Last year, supporters raised $177 million for non-profit organizations worldwide on Giving Tuesday. You can help keep that money in the Texas Panhandle by donating through thepanhandlegives.org.
If your money is designated for SP4K, 100 percent of donated funds will pay for food for kids unless otherwise designated. At SP4K, we believe in giving hope and a voice to kids. We do this with a simple, yet nutritious bag of brand new, brand-name food sent home on the weekends, so kids return to school ready to learn on Monday mornings. Those Snack Paks are made possible through the generous donations of time and money throughout our community and others in the Texas Panhandle and South Plains.
Regardless of where you choose to contribute, we hope you’ll help our local non-profits who are working daily to provide for the underserved in our community.
